How You Can Help the Earth Charter Initiative Fulfill its Mission
ECI seeks volunteer translators, communicators, presenters, and contributors of all kinds to help our efforts to build a more just and sustainable world. Volunteers or Supporters are Endorsers who commit and donate resources - time, money, network relationships, and public promotion or whatever is appropriate to them - to the Earth Charter Initiative. They may be organizations, governments, or individuals. “Volunteers or Supporters" are the equivalent of members in a traditional NGO membership programme, except that they acquire no formal rights from their Supporter status. Although ECI seeks broad sponsorship, it reserves the right to say “no, thanks” to specific organizations or people who might want to make a donation of some kind or promote the Earth Charter in a certain way. Supporters or Volunteers do have the right to identify themselves as a “Supporter of the Earth Charter Initiative” or a “Volunteer for the Earth Charter Initiative”.
Below, you can register as a volunteer in the project of your interest, according to your area of activity and expertise. We have organized the kinds of help we are looking for into nine different "Projects or Action Groups." Just click on the link below, tell us which Project you are interested in, and a member of our Team will contact you as soon as possible.
Project 1 - Translation of the Earth Charter into new languages (click here to see which translations already exist). If the Earth Charter is already translated in your native language, you can still help in translating other important materials.
Project 2 - Arts and Communications - Write stories, take pictures, create videos for the web, make a movie, write a song ... or anything else having to do with creative communications and the arts. You can also create an Earth Charter artistic group with your friends or colleagues, and together express your interest about the Earth Charter.
Project 3 - Give presentations on the Earth Charter to schools, professional groups, religious groups, clubs, youth groups etc.
Project 4 – Create an Earth Charter action group in education. If you are involved with an education institution (a school, a university or related), you can create a group with colleagues, students and/or other members of your community to share and discuss ways to incorporate the Earth Charter in the curricula, institutional projects and/or activities.
Project 5 – Create an Earth Charter action group in your company. If you work in the private sector, you can form a group to discuss how to bring the principles of the Earth Charter into your company’s activities, code of ethics, planning processes and assessments. In addition, discuss the possibility of developing or sponsoring an Earth Charter exhibition, publication, game or workshop locally.
Project 6 – Create an Earth Charter action group in media. If you work in the communication field, you can raise awareness about the Earth Charter among your colleagues (journalists, marketing professionals, designers, etc), inviting them to use it as a source of inspiration for their work. Together you can devise ways to deliver the notions of sustainability through the news or advertisements.
Project 7 - Contribute with anything else you can think of that might help advance the Earth Charter's ethical vision and principles! These might range from IT services, to staging a concert, to free office space somewhere in the world, to materials that could help ECI Affiliates or the above action groups (especially in developing countries). Use your imagination ... coupled to your generosity and commitment to a better world.
Of course, financial donations are also both welcome and needed.

We look forward to hearing from you ... and to working with you.
