Paragraph Description of Breakout Session:
The primary aim of the breakout session is to provide participants with an overview of the Earth Charter and how its vision of global interdependence and universal responsibility complements and supports the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the global human rights movement. The breakout session will also focus on the sharing of best-practices regarding the way in which the Earth Charter is used to support grass-roots efforts to address human rights violations and to promote an integrated approach to sustainable development.
En el marco de la Feria Nacional de Activación Física del Gobierno Federal el día 3 de agosto pasado se llevó a cabo el habitual Paseo Dominical de Río a Río que promueve el Ayuntamiento de Centro de Tabasco, México. Como parte de las actividades de este día y dando seguimiento al apoyo del Municipio y de su Alcalde Evaristo Hernández Cruz a la Iniciativa de la Carta de la Tierra, la Arquitecta Lorena Priego Fonseca impulsó la creación de una enorme lona en donde niños y adultos de todas las edades expresaron de manera artística sus deseos para un mundo mejor, basados en los principios de sustentabilidad de la Carta de la Tierra.
A special issue of the now usual River to River dominical walk took place on August 3rd within the frame of the Federal Government’s National Fair on Physical Activity promoted by the Municipality of the Center in Tabasco, Mexico. As part of this day’s activities and following up on the support to the Earth Charter Initiative on behalf of the Municipality and its Mayor Evaristo Hernández, architect and artist Lorena Priego stimulated the creation of a huge art piece where children and adults of different ages expressed their wishes for a better world based on the sustainability principles of the Earth Charter.

La Secretaría Internacional de la Carta de la Tierra tiene el gusto de invitarle a las actividades que está organizando en el marco del 4° Congreso Mundial de la Naturaleza, que se llevará a cabo en Barcelona del 5 al 14 de octubre del 2008:
1. Oportunidad de Aprendizaje: Evaluación ética: Ayudando a los individuos y organizaciones evaluar su compromiso y nivel de acción hacia la sostenibilidad, e identificar oportunidades para cambios estratégicos.

The Earth Charter Volunteers Network is bringing about very positive results! An example is the fruitful partnership that the Earth Charter Secretariat is starting with an Austrian-based NGO called INEX (International Network of Educational Exchange).
INEX offers summer university programs to several European universities; one of the programs is a short course on Sustainable Development for Master’s students of different disciplines, which takes place in Costa Rica. This year, it brought in 19 students from Austria, Finland, Germany, Rumania and Spain. The general aim of the summer programs is “to prepare leaders of tomorrow for the challenges of a globalized world”.
La asociación Iniciativas Sostenibles, con la colaboración de ASPEA (Asociación Portuguesa de Educación Ambiental), el STEs (Sindicato de Trabajadores de la Enseñanza), el MCEP (Movimiento Cooperativo de Escuela Popular), la Fundación Valores y la financiación de la Obra Social de Caja España, desarrolló un proyecto encaminado a la promoción de la Carta de la Tierra como herramienta educativa en el aula.
El proyecto consistió en la realización de un Seminario de Formación para el Profesorado el 21 de junio de 2008, en el albergue "La Canaleja" del municipio de Palomares, Salamanca, de 11:00 am a 19:30pm. En este encuentro se aportaron herramientas y materiales didácticos para trabajar la Carta de la Tierra en el aula. En él participaron tanto los profesores y profesoras de primaria y el primer ciclo de secundaria, como entidades que trabajan la educación ambiental en el ámbito formal.
